SOUTH ASIAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY + VIDEOGRAPHY

DRAWING an AUDIENCE from EVERY FRAME

Two people in traditional Indian wedding clothing, a man and a woman, standing in a grassy field with a horse. The woman is petting the horse, and the man is holding a lead rope attached to the horse's halter.

The question is no longer whether your photographer understands the culture. The question is whether the work will feel current today but still hold fifteen years from now, and whether one person alone can carry the full weight of a celebration this size. Black Iris is a boutique studio, not a solo operation. A full team behind you. One creative director. A style that moves with the moment and an editorial standard that does not.

MADE for the ARCHIVE

DALLAS · SOUTH ASIAN WEDDINGS · EST. 2020

Every image we deliver is made to outlast the day itself. Not just for the couple, but for everyone who was in that room. The friends who flew in, the family who waited years for this moment, the loved ones whose faces you'll want to find in every frame.

This is why we document South Asian weddings the way we do. With cultural precision. With a creative standard built into the studio itself, one that’s not dependent on chance.

Before BLACK IRIS, there was a JOURNALIST.

Before this studio existed, Zahra Haider spent years as a documentary journalist, reporting from street protests in South Africa to the halls of Congress, from places where the story was happening whether the camera was ready or not.

That discipline to find the real moment, tell the honest story, and never miss what matters is the foundation everything at Black Iris is built on.

Today, Zahra leads a team of more than a dozen photographers and videographers across multiple cities. While our specialists are on the ground at each celebration, Zahra personally curates the coverage plan, reviews the edit, and oversees delivery from first frame to final gallery. The consistency you see in this archive is not accidental. It is the result of one creative vision, applied without exception.

  • “They were easy to work with & helped our vision come to life.”

Black Iris was great! The best part about them was how communicative they were about their process and it helped both of us plan better for how our wedding would be photographed. We felt secure throughout the process and everything was done in a timely manner. They were easy to work with and helped our vision come to life. The end results were amazing and both us and our families are very happy with their work!
